Kazakhstan to Host 12 Major Events in Year of Vocational Professions

ASTANA – Kazakhstan is gearing up to host 12 major national and international events this year as part of the Year of Vocational Professions, announced Deputy Minister of Education Yedil Ospan during a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova.

The first event, scheduled for February in Astana, will be the City of Vocational Professions festival held at the EXPO exposition center. This unique five-day festival will showcase future career opportunities and the latest advancements in technology. Organizers aim to highlight the importance and potential of working professions, with pavilions dedicated to various sectors of the real economy featuring leading corporations and industrial groups.

During the meeting, plans were discussed for work in cities and regions, focusing on seven main areas and consisting of 70 steps. Additionally, a list of 20 regional projects was developed to enhance the education system for working professionals, provide career guidance to schoolchildren, and engage companies in joint activities.

The meeting also addressed the plans of the Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund within the Year of Vocational Professions. The group of companies currently employs over 255,000 people, with nearly 190,000 in vocational professions. There is a need for 5,000 specialists, and by 2032, Samruk Kazyna aims to implement 46 major investment projects that will create more than 64,000 jobs.

Deputy Prime Minister Duissenova emphasized the importance of elevating the status and prestige of vocational professions in the country. She highlighted the need for strong cooperation between government agencies, local authorities, enterprises, and educational institutions to train specialists effectively.

It was also noted that the efforts to enhance vocational professions will not be limited to just one year but will continue on an ongoing basis. Kazakhstan is committed to nurturing a skilled workforce and promoting the value of vocational professions for the country’s future prosperity.
