Kazakhstan Tops IBA Rankings for 2023 Boxing Season
Kazakhstan Takes Top Spot in International Boxing Association Rankings
Kazakhstan has taken the top spot in the International Boxing Association (IBA) rankings with an impressive 81,000 points, according to the association’s official website. The country’s national team put on a strong showing at the recent Men’s World Boxing Championships held in Tashkent from April 30 to May 14, winning four gold and one silver medal.
Uzbekistan and Russia followed Kazakhstan in the rankings with 60,800 and 58,050 points, respectively. India, Cuba, Brazil, Italy, Türkiye, Mexico, and the United States rounded out the top 10.
The IBA rankings are based on the points scored by the men’s and women’s national teams. Kazakhstan’s success at the Men’s World Boxing Championships, combined with their performance at the Women’s World Boxing Championships held from March 15 to 26 in New Delhi, where the national team won two silver and four bronze medals, propelled them to the top of the rankings.
Next year, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, will host the International Boxing Association Women’s World Boxing Championships.
As the country continues to dominate in the boxing world, there is no doubt that Kazakhstan is becoming a major player on the global sporting stage.
