Kazakhstan’s 2023 Baby Boom: Spotlight on Male Births

Last year in Kazakhstan, a total of 388,400 children were born, with boys making up 51.6% and girls accounting for 48.4%, according to the report from the Bureau of National Statistics released on April 22.

The data revealed that 59% of the total births took place in urban areas, with the remaining 41% occurring in rural areas. The regions with the highest birth rates were Mangystau and Turkistan, along with the city of Shymkent.

The report also highlighted that the majority of births were among women aged 25-29, totaling 29%, followed by 26% among women aged 30-34. Interestingly, there were 12,600 children born to women under the age of 20, and 96 children born to women over 50. The average maternal age in 2023 was 29.7 years.

Additionally, the statistics showed that there were 4,075 twins born last year, along with 48 triplets and one set of quadruplets.
