Kazakhstan Expands International Air Route Network with 22 New Destinations
ASTANA – Kazakhstan has made significant strides in expanding its international air route network this year, with Vice Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov announcing the addition of 22 new destinations. This update was shared during a government meeting on Dec. 17, as reported by the Prime Minister’s press service.
Presently, the international flights from Kazakhstan serve 31 countries, including popular destinations such as Russia, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and various European and Asian countries. Plans for the upcoming year include launching flights to Budapest, Munich, and Rome, with a total of ten new routes in the pipeline.
In addition to expanding the international network, Kazakhstan has enhanced its domestic air transportation infrastructure. New passenger terminals have been completed in Kyzylorda and Almaty, with a terminal in Shymkent nearing completion. These projects, funded by private investments, aim to modernize the country’s air transport infrastructure without relying on state budget funds.
Currently, domestic air transportation is facilitated by six airlines operating on 57 routes with a frequency of 669 flights per week. Furthermore, the Kids Go Free program has been a success in enabling over 5,500 children to fly for free on family travel packages within Kazakhstan. This initiative has not only benefited families by saving them 280 million tenge but also boosted tour sales, generating 1.2 billion tenge.
Among the popular destinations under the Kids Go Free program, the coast of Lake Alakol topped the list, followed by Almaty, Shchuchinsk-Burabai resort area, and Astana. Interest in Almaty and its surrounding areas has increased by 24% compared to the previous year, showcasing the growing appeal of Kazakhstan as a travel destination.
With plans to add more routes and aircraft in the coming years, Kazakhstan is set to further strengthen its position in the global aviation industry and attract more travelers to explore its diverse destinations.
