Kazakh freestyle skier Anastasia Gorodko clinches gold at 2025 FISU World University Games Winter
Astana – Kazakhstan’s very own professional freestyle skier Anastasia Gorodko has made her country proud by winning the gold medal with an impressive score of 79.79 points at the 2025 FISU World University Games Winter held in Torino from January 13th to 23rd. This victory marks Kazakhstan’s first gold medal at the Winter Universiade.
In addition to Gorodko’s remarkable achievement, Ayaulym Amrenova also showcased her skills and finished fifth with a score of 70.52 points, as confirmed by the National Olympic Committee’s press service.
A total of 103 students representing Kazakhstan are actively participating in the games, which kicked off with a grand opening ceremony the day before. During the ceremony, the Kazakh national flag was proudly carried by Abylaikhan Suleimenov, and both Suleimenov and Amrenova donned their national outfits while presenting the rest of the team members.
The Kazakh contingent is looking to continue their impressive performance and make their mark in various events at the 2025 FISU World University Games Winter. With athletes like Anastasia Gorodko leading the way, Kazakhstan is sure to be a force to be reckoned with on the international stage of winter sports.
