Kazakh Athletes Depart for 2024 Paris Olympics, High Expectations for National Men’s Boxing Team

With less than a week to go before the start of the 2024 Paris Games, Kazakh athletes have boarded their flights to Paris on July 17. The Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, and twelve referees from Kazakhstan will be officiating at the prestigious event.

A total of eighty athletes will be representing Kazakhstan at the games, with the national men’s boxing team emerging as the only full team among the country’s representatives. The team is expected to be strong contenders for prestigious awards and medals.

Renowned Kazakh boxer Yermakhan Ibraimov, in an interview with Kazinform news agency, expressed his optimism and expectations for the upcoming Olympic Games. He highlighted the experience and capabilities of the Kazakh boxers participating in the event.

“The Summer Olympics in Paris will mark the eighth Olympics for athletes from independent Kazakhstan. Our team has highly qualified boxers who are capable of delivering outstanding performances. We have secured licenses in all weight categories and are ready to represent our country with pride,” Ibraimov stated.

The main hopes for medals rest on experienced boxers such as Saken Bibossinov and Kamshybek Kunkabayev, both bronze medalists at the Tokyo Olympics. The team captain, Aslanbek Shymbergenov, and Makhmud Sabyrkhan, both 2023 World Champions, are also expected to make significant contributions to the team’s success.

Ibraimov also pointed out other talented boxers like Aibek and Nurbek Oralbay, and Mukhammedsabir Bazanbaiuly, who have strong chances of medaling at the games. He emphasized the determination and readiness of the athletes to achieve remarkable results and bring honor to their country.

Reflecting on his own Olympic journey, Ibraimov shared insights from his past experiences and the psychological challenges he faced as a boxer. He highlighted the importance of the support provided by the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation and expressed hope for the current team to surpass previous achievements.

In addition to the male boxers, the national boxing team also includes female athletes like Nazym Kyzaibay, Karina Ibragimova, and Valentina Khalzova, who have demonstrated exceptional skills and accomplishments in the sport.

As a symbol of support and inspiration, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Kazakhstan and the Bayan Sulu confectionery factory recently launched a limited batch of chocolate bars to rally behind the Kazakh athletes at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

With high expectations and determination, the Kazakh athletes are geared up to make their mark at the 2024 Paris Olympics and showcase their passion for sports on the global stage.
