Kazakhstan to Prioritize Gender Equality and Domestic Violence Prevention at UN Human Rights Council Sessions

ASTANA – Kazakhstan is gearing up to focus on initiatives related to gender equality and domestic violence prevention at the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) sessions this year, as stated by First Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Umarov in a report delivered to the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Umarov highlighted the political and human rights reforms undertaken in 2023 and shed light on Kazakhstan’s priorities and plans as it enters its final year of HRC membership.

He also lauded Kazakhstan’s successful adoption of the resolution on ensuring quality education for peace and tolerance for every child, which was initiated by the country during last year’s HRC membership.

Deputy Justice Minister Botagoz Zhakselekova presented the results of implementing reforms in human rights, which included decentralization of the political system, simplification of party registration, and protection of citizens’ rights. Meanwhile, Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry Alua Nadirkulova emphasized the role played by the consultative and advisory body, the dialogue platform on the human dimension.

Kazakhstan’s commitment to addressing issues related to gender equality and domestic violence prevention at the HRC sessions underscores the country’s dedication to promoting human rights and creating a more equitable and safe society for all its citizens.
