KazAID Relaunches Avicenna: Healthcare Program to Support Medical Students from Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan
ASTANA – Kazakhstan’s Agency for International Development (KazAID) has announced the relaunch of its Avicenna: Healthcare program, aimed at supporting students from medical institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan. The program, which was officially re-introduced on April 14, seeks to provide educational opportunities and cultural experiences for students from the two Central Asian countries.
Ten students from Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan are currently participating in an academic mobility program at Astana Medical University (AMU) from April 10 to May 2. In collaboration with AMU and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the initiative includes a comprehensive curriculum covering key aspects of medical education, as well as a cultural program that features visits to various landmarks in Astana.
Thanks to a grant from KazAID, the courses offered as part of the program are provided on a non-refundable basis, allowing students to benefit from this unique opportunity without financial burden. Initially launched in 2024, the Avicenna: Healthcare program has garnered positive feedback from both international students and partner organizations in Central Asia, paving the way for its expansion in the future.
As KazAID continues its efforts to support education and development in the region, the relaunch of the Avicenna: Healthcare program underscores the agency’s commitment to fostering cross-border collaboration and promoting excellence in medical education. Through initiatives like this, KazAID aims to contribute to the growth and success of students and institutions in neighboring countries, ultimately strengthening ties and fostering a culture of cooperation in the field of healthcare.
