Kazakhstan’s Upgraded Drone Passes Test with Flying Colors

Kazakhstan’s Engineering National Company has successfully conducted a flight test of its upgraded unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) called Shagala-M, according to an announcement made by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development on June 1. The test revealed that the drone now has improved tactical and technical characteristics and can fly at faster speeds and higher altitudes than before. The UAV is widely used for monitoring oil and gas pipelines and power lines. It can also be used for search and rescue operations and act as a communication relay in disaster relief. The Shagala-M was developed by the Research and Development Center at Kazakhstan Engineering and is cheaper than foreign drones. Kazakhstan Engineering is set to launch a training program for pilots and mechanics to ensure safe and efficient operation of civilian drones and copters. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development has also recently outlined regulations governing UAV operations in Kazakhstan’s airspace.
