Kazan to Become World Center of Field Hockey
At the XV International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World” in Kazan, plans were unveiled to transform the city into a global hub for field hockey. Fisal Hassan, Director of the Kazan International Institute for Cooperation with African and Middle Eastern Countries, announced two major projects that have been given the green light.
The first project, “Kazan is the sports capital of the Islamic ice hockey world,” has been successfully finalized. Now, the focus shifts to the second project, aimed at making Kazan a center for field hockey development not only for the Islamic world but for all nations. The project has garnered approval from the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Field Hockey Federation in Moscow and is actively progressing.
Hassan revealed that Kazan is set to become the field hockey capital for 50 countries, including Islamic nations, as well as countries in Africa and the Middle East. Saeed Al-Jasmi, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Club and head of the ADNOC Procurement Service, announced that athletes from the United Arab Emirates will visit Kazan for the upcoming BRICS Games in June 2024.
The Swimming Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Club have already inked an agreement to pave the way for future collaboration and knowledge exchange in the realm of sports. The Gulf States are showing keen interest in the prospects presented by cooperation with Russia and Tatarstan.
Exciting times lie ahead for Kazan as it embarks on its journey to become a prominent global center for field hockey.
