Kenan Işık’s Body Returned to Family
Renowned actor and presenter Kenan Işık, who had been in a coma for 10 years after suffering a brain hemorrhage in 2014, has passed away at the age of 76. Işık, who had been receiving treatment for many years, breathed his last yesterday, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable contributions to the world of theater and media.
Kenan Işık’s body was delivered to his family, who came to the hospital in the morning to bid him farewell. The funeral program for the late actor has been announced, with his burial scheduled to take place at Karşıyaka Cemetery after the funeral prayer at Ankara Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque following the noon prayer on Wednesday, July 31.
President Erdoğan also conveyed his condolences in a post on his social media account, expressing his deep sorrow at the passing of Kenan Işık. He praised the late actor for his valuable contributions to the theater, voice acting, presenting, and journalism fields, offering his sympathies to Işık’s family, loved ones, and the entire art and media community.
Kenan Işık, whose full name is Yusuf Kenan Işık, was born in Malatya on October 1, 1947. Starting his acting career in school theater during his secondary education, Işık went on to become a prominent figure in the Turkish theater scene. He served as a State Theater artist, general art director of City Theaters, scriptwriter, and also appeared in various TV series.
Aside from his acting career, Kenan Işık was known for writing articles on culture and art, contributing to newspapers, magazines, and books. He also participated as a moderator and speaker in numerous national and international conferences. His dedication to the arts extended to his role as a lecturer at Istanbul Kültür University and his involvement in over 100 theater plays as a writer, director, or actor.
The passing of Kenan Işık marks a significant loss for the Turkish entertainment industry, as his talent and passion for the arts had left a lasting impact on audiences and colleagues alike.
