Khamenei’s Tough Response to Trump Shocks ‘Zorba Country’
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recently made strong statements regarding the possibility of negotiations with the United States. During an iftar program in Tehran, Khamenei, along with former and current senior civilian and military officials, addressed the issue of President Trump’s call for negotiation with Iran.
Khamenei emphasized that some governments, like the United States, are not interested in genuine negotiation but rather seek to establish dominance over other nations. He criticized the US for bringing new demands related to Iran’s defense and international capabilities, stating that Iran will not accept such demands. He also called out European countries, including Germany, France, and Britain, for failing to fulfill their obligations under the nuclear agreement.
Referring to the Trump administration’s approach to Iran, Khamenei stated that there is a limit to Iran’s patience and that further provocations will not be tolerated. He underscored that the Iranian government had no choice but to take a firm stance against bullying tactics.
In response to President Trump’s claim that he had sent a letter to Khamenei seeking negotiations, Iran’s UN Permanent Representation clarified that they had not received any such letter. Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, have consistently maintained that they will not engage in negotiations under pressure or threats.
Foreign Minister Zarif reiterated this position during a recent interview, stating that Iran will not enter direct negotiations with the US as long as the maximum pressure policy and threats continue. The Iranian government remains steadfast in its commitment to defending its sovereignty and national interests in the face of external pressures.
