Kılıçdaroğlu addresses Turkey’s National Defense Industry
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the chairman of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), and presidential candidate for the Nation Alliance, has recently criticized the government’s use of the defense industry as a tool for election propaganda. In a video published on his Twitter account titled “National Defense Industry,” Kılıçdaroğlu expressed his concern over the politicization of the defense industry and the negative impact it could have on the state.
Kılıçdaroğlu accused the ruling party, the Justice and Development Party (AKP), of turning the state’s defense and army into election propaganda and using the field as a campaign tool. He stated that it is unacceptable to politicize the defense industry, as it undermines national security and puts the state at great risk.
The CHP leader argued that the defense industry should not be used as a platform to advance the interests of any political party, as it is a sensitive area that should remain neutral and solely dedicated to protecting the country and its citizens. He said that even the engineers of defense ships and other military equipment should be treated as professionals, and their political affiliations should not matter when it comes to their work for the state.
Kılıçdaroğlu emphasized that the defense industry is a sacred issue for Turkey and that all parties should be united in their efforts to protect the country’s independence and national interests. He urged the government to stop politicizing the defense industry and to prioritize the country’s security and stability over political interests.
Kılıçdaroğlu concluded by calling on the people of Turkey to unite and remain patient in the face of these challenging times, saying that the state will once again be the state, and that all parties, including the CHP, will know their place.
