Kılıçdaroğlu discusses Petrochemical SEZs

CHP Chairman and Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has proposed the creation of two special petrochemical zones in Turkey to address the country’s current account deficit, which arises from imports of petrochemical products. Kılıçdaroğlu stated that approximately 30% of Turkey’s current account deficit is due to these imports and that the production of petrochemical products domestically would help to close this deficit. The two proposed zones would be located in Adana Yumurtalık and Tekirdağ Marmara Ereğli, creating 15,000 direct jobs and attracting around $30 billion of direct investment in 10 years. Kılıçdaroğlu also emphasized the importance of utilizing innovative, green technologies in the production process. He promised to initiate the project in the first year of his government, adding that Turkey deserves to be enriched and that he will continue to present projects that will bring the country to permanent prosperity.
