King Charles III’s Visit to Vatican Postponed, According to Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace announced today that the planned visit of the King and Queen to the Vatican to meet with the Pope has been postponed. The decision was taken based on medical advice, as the Pope is currently on a long rest and recovery period following his recent hospitalization.
The King and Queen were scheduled to make a state visit to Italy next month, but changes will now be made to the program to accommodate the postponed Vatican visit. King Charles has expressed his best wishes for the Pope’s speedy recovery and looks forward to visiting him in the Vatican once he is healed.
The 88-year-old Pope was recently treated for double-sided pneumonia at the Gemelli hospital in Rome after suffering from severe bronchitis in February. He was discharged from the hospital on 23rd March, and his doctor, Sergio Alferi, has advised that he rest for at least 2 months to fully recover.
