Turkish Cypriot Public Servants Union Suspends Planned Strike
The Turkish Cypriot Public Servants Union (KTAMS) has announced the suspension of a strike that was planned to be held at the Development Bank. This decision came after Prime Minister Ünal Üstel gave an order for the exam to be postponed and held by the Public Service Commission.
In a written statement, KTAMS President Güven Bengihan expressed that the union’s struggle for the cancellation of the show exam planned at the Development Bank on Tuesday, November 14 has yielded results. He mentioned that the Prime Minister, taking into account their sensitivity on the issue, has given the necessary instructions to postpone the exam and conduct it through the Public Service Commission.
As a result, the strike that was set to start at the bank on Monday, November 13 has been suspended. This development comes as a relief for public servants and demonstrates the effectiveness of the union’s advocacy for fair and transparent examination processes in the public sector.
The union’s decision to suspend the strike reflects a positive step towards addressing the concerns of public servants and ensuring the proper conduct of examinations. It also highlights the importance of dialogue and cooperation between unions and government authorities in addressing issues affecting public sector employees.
Overall, the suspension of the strike is a welcome development and demonstrates the potential for constructive engagement between unions and government entities in addressing labor-related issues.
