KTBB Delegation Participates in OICC 15th General Conference and 33rd Board Meeting
The Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities recently held its 15th General Conference and 33rd Board of Directors meeting in Konya, Turkey. This prestigious event was attended by representatives from 57 Islamic countries, with a total of 187 members participating.
The conference was hosted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality and was a platform for discussions on important issues facing Islamic cities and capitals. Among the attendees were delegates from the Turkish Municipality Union, including Tatlısu Mayor Ahmet Hayri Orçan, who highlighted the need for unity and solidarity within the Islamic world.
During the conference, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized the importance of making the voices of the oppressed heard, particularly in regions like Gaza. He called for joint projects and collaborations to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Islamic cities.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities, Ömer bin Abdullah El-Kadı, expressed his gratitude for the successful organization of the conference in Konya and emphasized the organization’s mission to promote cooperation among Islamic capitals and cities.
At the conclusion of the conference, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay was unanimously appointed as the chairman of the OICC Board of Directors meeting. In his acceptance speech, Altay emphasized the rich heritage of Islamic cities and the need to blend it with the modern world.
During a symposium at the conference, Tatlısu Mayor Ahmet Hayri Orçan called for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a permanent member, rather than just an observer. He also discussed the importance of sister relations and shared his experiences in developing local municipalities.
