Lake Balaton Ferry Offers Huge Discounts for their Season Launch
Lake Balaton Shipping Company (BAHART) has announced the start of the pre-season on June 1, following a successful spring traffic period. With scheduled services departing from all ports on weekends and priority ports offering services on weekdays, passengers can enjoy more frequent sailings between the coasts this summer.
Thanks to a fleet expansion supported by over HUF 6 billion (EUR 15 million) from the government, ships will be operating more frequently during the pre-season. Discounts will also be extended from the beginning of summer, making it more affordable for travelers to explore Lake Balaton.
Daily scheduled services will depart from ports such as Badacsony, Balatonfüred, Tihany, Tihanyrév, Fonyód, Siófok, and Balatonföldvár. In addition, ten more ports on the shores of Lake Balaton will offer services on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the pre-season.
The company plans to operate nine daily services in both directions between Fonyód and Badacsony, with seven services in each direction between Siófok and the northern coast on weekdays, and nine services on weekends. For cyclists, there is a significant bicycle capacity available on the ships crossing between the coasts.
Due to the increased number of cyclists on Lake Balaton, the company is installing extra bike storage facilities in harbors to accommodate the growing demand. The pre-season, running until July 5, will also offer one-hour cruises and the popular “Pleasure boat trip in the sunset” program at eight ports.
From the summer, new discounts will be introduced, including a family ticket type for cruises and children’s boat programs. Moreover, disabled persons will now be able to travel free of charge on passenger boats, making the lake more accessible to all.
Up until June 20, ferry services will depart regularly from Szántódrév and Tihanyrév, ensuring convenient transportation for passengers. With these initiatives and developments, Lake Balaton remains a top destination for summer relaxation and enjoyment.
