Laleli Parking Lot Entrance and Exit Fee Increases to 340 TL – Latest Update
The Rise in Hotel Car Park Fees Sparks Concern in Istanbul
The recent increase in parking fees at a hotel car park in the Laleli district of Istanbul has sparked outrage and concern among local residents and visitors. The entrance and exit fee of the parking lot skyrocketed to 340 TL, with a 24-hour fee of 1,024 TL, leaving many to question the fairness of the price hike in light of the city’s rising inflation.
The parking problem is especially noticeable in areas with heavy human traffic, such as the Grand Bazaar and Laleli, where finding a place to park has become increasingly difficult. This has led to frustration among citizens and local tradesmen, who are calling for a solution to this growing issue.
Comparing the new parking prices to those listed on Google Maps, it was revealed that there has been a significant increase in fees. What was once a 45 TL entrance and exit fee has now surged by over 650 percent to 340 TL. This alarming spike has not only raised concerns among residents and visitors but has also ignited discussions about the broader parking problem in Istanbul.
Orhan Kaya, a local tradesman, voiced his frustrations, stating, “There is a parking problem in the Laleli region, as well as throughout Istanbul. Those who come here with their vehicles are forced to leave them 2-3 km away. We prefer public transportation, as municipal parking lots cost around 150 lira for 24 hours. Private car parks are even more expensive, and a solution needs to be found for this situation.”
The sharp increase in hotel car park fees has clearly struck a nerve within the community, highlighting the urgent need for a comprehensive solution to the city’s parking woes. As discussions continue, it remains to be seen how local authorities will address this pressing issue to ensure fair and accessible parking options for all residents and visitors in Istanbul.
