Laos President Sisoulith Plants Trees in Mongolia
Mongolian President U.Khurelsukh Hosts State Visit of Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith
Mongolian President U.Khurelsukh has welcomed President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on a state visit to Mongolia on June 11-12, 2024. The two heads of state engaged in official talks and signed cooperation documents during the 17th presidential visit to Laos.
Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Laos were established in 1962, and this visit marks the fourth visit by the president of Laos since 1980.
During the visit, President U.Khurelsukh, President Thongloun Sisoulith, and the First Ladies of both countries planted commemorative trees in the “Mongolian culture park” complex. Both Mongolia and Laos are landlocked countries that are vulnerable to climate change, leading the heads of state to stress the importance of each country’s participation in addressing global issues such as desertification and environmental degradation. They also reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to these efforts.
President Thongloun Sisoulith and First Lady Naly Sisoulith visited the “Gorkhi-Terelj national park” where they experienced the nomadic way of life and learned about the customs of the region.
The visit symbolizes the strengthening of ties between Mongolia and Laos and highlights the shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
