“Lapta Hesap İşi registered as a valuable piece of Turkish Cypriot culture”
“Lapta Hesap İşi”, a traditional embroidery that has been a part of Turkish Cypriot culture for over 100 years, has recently been registered in the TRNC. This exquisite embroidery, known for its colorful and elegant patterns, serves as a bridge between the past and the future, captivating all who see it.
The registration of “Lapta Hesap İşi” was made possible through the efforts of the Entrepreneurial Women’s Association, who worked in collaboration with GİKAD, Lapta Culture and Art Association, and Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality. This registration ensures that the art of “Lapta Hesap İşi” can be passed down from generation to generation.
The announcement of the registration will take place at a special launch event at the Acapulco Hotel on July 18, 2024, with the participation of President Ersin Tatar. Additionally, a special episode of “Lapta Hesap İşi”, created for the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, will be screened at the Acapulco Resort Hotel on the same day.
In a statement, GİKAD expressed their excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to share this special episode with the audience, emphasizing the importance of preserving and celebrating traditional handicrafts. The event will also feature a presentation by Dilek Hanif, showcasing a dress inspired by the embroidered design of “Lapta Hesap İşi”.
The event programme includes the opening and screening of the film, Dilek Hanif’s presentation, and a cocktail reception. Attendees can also look forward to the upcoming show “People’s Art with Dilek Hanif”, which will showcase traditional Anatolian handicrafts on NTV.
