Last Minute Call for Iraq to Recognize PKK as Terrorist Group

The Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, recently made significant statements during his visit to Baghdad. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to his counterpart, Fuad Hussein, for the warm hospitality. Fidan mentioned that he would be meeting with the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of the Assembly during his visit.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the relationship between Turkey and Iraq, Fidan highlighted the historical visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Iraq last year, during which 27 agreements were signed. He also mentioned the importance of a development project aimed at benefiting both regions.
One key point raised by Fidan was the recognition of the PKK as a terrorist organization by Iraq. He stressed that the PKK threatens the security of both Turkey and Iraq, as well as neighboring countries. Fidan urged for a joint effort to combat terrorism and ensure regional stability.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein also addressed the press, welcoming Fidan to Baghdad. He acknowledged the discussions on bilateral relations and emphasized the need for further cooperation between Turkey and Iraq. Issues related to politics, security, and coordination on regional matters were discussed during the meeting.
As discussions continue between the two countries, the focus remains on combating terrorism, particularly threats posed by organizations like Daesh and the PKK. Both foreign ministers expressed a commitment to working together to address these challenges and enhance regional security.
