Possible new locations for the political office include countries such as Iran, Turkey, Oman, and most recently, Iraq. The National News reported that Hamas may be planning to move to Iraq, with discussions reportedly taking place between Hamas’ political bureau chief Ismail Haniye and senior Iraqi officials. Security for the move would allegedly be provided by Iran.
However, Hamas quickly denied The National News’ report, stating that they have not held any talks with Iraq regarding a potential move. It remains uncertain if Hamas will indeed be leaving Qatar and relocating their political office to a new country.
