
Last Minute Encounter in the Belgrade Forest with Ece Gürel

36-year-old Ece Gürel, a landscape architect who was lost in the Belgrade Forest in Istanbul and found 4 days later, has tragically passed away in the hospital.
Gürel, who had been in the steep forest area last night, was rushed to Maslak Acıbadem Hospital where it was discovered that she had been suffering from hypothermia for an extended period of time.
Despite the efforts of the medical team to revive her, Gürel unfortunately succumbed to her condition and lost her life.
The incident began when Gürel left her home in Kağıthane Gültepe Neighborhood on Sunday, March 2, stating that she was going to the Belgrade Forest. Concerned relatives initiated a large-scale search with the help of search and rescue teams after she failed to return home.
After 4 days of intense search efforts, Gürel’s mobile phone and some personal belongings were discovered in the Belgrade Forest on March 4. She was found in a steep forested area and immediately taken to Maslak Acıbadem Hospital where she fought for her life but ultimately could not be saved.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in outdoor activities, emphasizing the importance of proper preparation and caution when venturing into natural environments. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Ece Gürel during this difficult time.
