“Last-Minute Meeting in Moscow Facilitates Voluntary and Safe Returns to Syria”
Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Russia, Syria, and Iran have agreed to prepare a roadmap to improve relations between Turkey and Syria. The meeting held in Moscow addressed the voluntary, safe and dignified return of Syrians to their homeland. The ministers also emphasized the positive and constructive atmosphere of the talks and agreed to continue the four-way format. The meeting ended with a statement from Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on the need for cooperation in the fight against terrorism, infrastructure for returns in cooperation, advancing the political process, and protecting Syria’s territorial integrity. Besides Çavuşoğlu, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Syrian Foreign Minister Beneficiary Mikdad, and Iranian Foreign Minister Hüseyin Emir Abdullahian attended the meeting.
