Last Minute Transfer: Yüksel Güran and Enes Güran Moved to Other Prisons

After 19 days of search work in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, 12 people were arrested on August 21st in connection with the murder of Narin Güran. The body of Narin Güran, who was closed with 3 stones weighing 30, 25, and 20 kilos and hidden in bushes, was found in the creek bed in the stream bed. The suspects were sued in the Diyarbakir 8th High Criminal Court.

According to the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Salim Güran, who had DNA and hair samples of Narin in his vehicle, was detained along with his mother Yüksel Güran, his older brother Enes Güran, and his brother Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to carrying the body. The suspects were charged with ‘deliberate killing against the child in the event of participation’ and faced aggravated life imprisonment.

In the 2nd hearing of the case, Salim Güran, Enes Güran, and Yüksel Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for destroying evidence of the crime. The court ordered the continued detention of the defendants.

Following the court decision, Narin Güran’s mother Yüksel Güran and brother Enes Güran were transferred to other prisons. Their lawyers expressed concerns about the distance created between the prisoners and their families, emphasizing the importance of maintaining family ties.

The case of Narin Güran’s murder continues to develop, with prosecutors seeking aggravated life imprisonment for Nevzat Bahtiyar. The legal proceedings are ongoing, with the hope of bringing justice to the victim and her family.
