Late Night Meeting of KTTB-Insurance Board of Directors – BRTK
Ahmet Özant, President of the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association (KTTB), recently addressed the ongoing issues faced by patients, insured workers, and their dependents in accessing medicine. Despite the late convening of the KTTB-Insurance Board of Directors, Özant expressed concerns about the obstacles caused by the ‘prescription investigation’ that began six months ago and is still unresolved.
In a statement, Özant emphasized the necessity for the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association to be actively involved in finding a solution to the medication access problems. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between KTTB and the Board of Directors to address challenges in worker access to medicine, contract issues between doctors and offices, and system inefficiencies.
Following a positive initial meeting with the Social Security Department administrative council on February 28, Özant expressed optimism about the prospect of resolving these issues in the near future. He reiterated the Association’s commitment to ensuring safe medication access for insured workers, establishing a reliable system for healthcare providers, and promoting transparency within the department.
As an organization dedicated to advocating for the healthcare needs of the community, the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association emphasizes the importance of its active participation in addressing health-related challenges. Özant stressed the necessity of the Association’s involvement in finding lasting solutions and warned against attempts to exclude or marginalize their role in decision-making processes.
