
Law and Political Affairs Committee convenes to discuss Environment Amendment Draft Law

Republican Assembly Law, Political Affairs, Outdoors and Defense Committee Approves Environment Amendment
The Republican Assembly Law, Political Affairs, Outdoors and Defense Committee, chaired by UBP Deputy Yasemi Ozturk, gathered today to discuss various legislative matters. One of the key topics on the agenda was the approval of the “Environmental (Amendment) Draft Law”, which has now been referred to the General Assembly for further consideration.
According to the official statement released by the Assembly of the Republic, the committee reviewed several important laws related to road and traffic crimes, including the “Road and Traffic Crimes (Amendment) Law”, the “Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Law”, and the “No Case and Penalty Score of Road and Traffic Crimes (Amendment) Law”. During the meeting, representatives from the Environmental Protection Department also provided valuable insights to the committee members.
The committee unanimously approved the “Draft Law (Amendment) Law” and subsequently passed it on to the General Assembly for further deliberation. In addition, discussions were held regarding the “Unparalleled Call and Penal Point of Road and Traffic Crimes (Amendment) Law”, with plans to finalize the decision at the next meeting.
UBP Deputy Yasemi Öztürk led the meeting, which was attended by other committee members and representatives from various government agencies and associations. The involvement of experts from the Prime Ministry, Traffic Department, Security Forces Command, Police General Directorate, and Turkish Cypriot Transporters Association enriched the discussions and provided a comprehensive understanding of the proposed amendments.
