
Limassol Resistance Commemoration Honors its Martyrs

Deputy President and Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, recently commemorated the Limassol Resistance and its martyrs with a powerful message. In his statement, Töre emphasized the heroism displayed by the Mujahideen in Limassol and the significant role their struggle and resistance played in shaping the history of the Turkish Cypriots.
“The heroism shown by our Mujahideen in Limassol has an important place in our history. The struggle and resistance put forward has added significant strength and spirit to our people in bringing the Turkish Cypriots to this day. Our Mujahideen, who repelled the attacks carried out by EOKA members, have undertaken a glorious resistance. Our brothers who sacrificed their lives during this resistance have reached the level of martyrdom and have taken their place in the deepest part of our hearts,” Töre stated.
He also reflected on the painful events throughout history, emphasizing that the Turkish Cypriots have no other security than their homeland. Töre expressed that Türkiye and the Turkish army are indispensable for the Turkish Cypriots, and they will continue to walk this path together.
In conclusion, Töre saluted the historical resistance and commemorated the martyrs with respect, mercy, and gratitude, saying, “May their souls rest in peace.” This message serves to honor the brave individuals who fought for the freedom and security of the Turkish Cypriot people, reminding the nation of the sacrifices made and the enduring strength and spirit of the community.
