Limited Availability of Low-Cost Wizz Air Flights Post Easter; Budapest to Eastern Metropolis Route Possibly Reinstated
Wizz Air has been in the spotlight recently for their unusually high ticket prices, even for their cheapest flights. It seems that after the Easter period, prices have skyrocketed to 40-50 euros from the initial 10-15 euro range. This has left many travelers questioning whether Wizz Air will continue to compete with these high prices in the future.
According to Hungarian air travel news outlet, Okosutas, the current high prices are expected to decrease soon to a more reasonable 15-20 euros. It is advised not to purchase spring or summer tickets at the moment, as there is a good chance that prices will go down in the coming weeks.
In comparison, Ryanair has also seen a gradual increase in prices from February onwards. However, prices for March and April are predicted to drop in the near future. It may be worth holding off on booking with them as well.
On the other hand, some low-cost airlines, like Norwegian, are currently offering favorable prices for tickets. For example, booking a March or May ticket from Budapest now will only cost around 35-45 euros, which is their lowest price.
In other news, there is a possibility that the Budapest-Astana flight may make a return in 2025. According to Kazakh media sources, Kazakhstan’s deputy transport minister has announced plans to relaunch 10 new international routes from Astana, including flights to Rome, Munich, and Budapest. However, the airline responsible for this connection has not been specified yet.
It seems that despite the current high prices, there is hope for more affordable travel options in the near future. Stay tuned for updates on ticket prices and new flight routes in 2025.
