Liquidation Sales Generate 913 Million TL in Income
The Ministry of Commerce in Turkey has been conducting the sale of liquidated goods and vehicles through electronic tenders since 2014, in line with Customs and Anti-Smuggling Legislation. This e-tender system, the first of its kind in public administrations in Turkey, ensures transparency and accessibility in the tendering process. Citizens can participate in these tenders from anywhere with an internet connection through the website www.eihale.gov.tr.
In the first three months of 2024, a total of 3,807 tenders were held, with 3,332 of them using the e-tender method. These tenders resulted in sales generating approximately 913 million Turkish liras for the country’s economy. Vehicle sales saw a 77% increase, while goods sales and revenue increased by 299% and 141%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
A wide range of goods, including commercial vehicles, jewelry, textiles, electronics, furniture, food, and cosmetics, are effectively sold through e-tendering at market value, contributing significantly to the economy. In addition, retail stores affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce also contributed to revenue generation, with a 26% increase compared to the previous year.
The Ministry of Commerce emphasizes its commitment to combating market-distorting activities and ensuring fair competition in commercial life. The efforts to boost the country’s economy and enhance social welfare through these initiatives will continue with utmost sensitivity.
