Lőrinc Mészáros Doubles Wealth in One Year, Tops List of Richest Hungarians
The latest rankings of the 100 wealthiest individuals in Hungary have been released, showcasing both familiar faces and newcomers. Lőrinc Mészáros has once again claimed the top spot for the second consecutive year, solidifying his position as the wealthiest Hungarian.
According to reports from Index, the top 3 wealthiest individuals remain unchanged compared to last year, with Lőrinc Mészáros, Sándor Csányi, and Zsolt Felcsuti leading the pack. Mészáros, a 58-year-old businessman, saw a significant increase in his wealth, reaching a staggering HUF 990 billion (EUR 2.56 billion) this year. His diverse business group spans various sectors such as banking, insurance, construction, agriculture, food, tourism, and energy, with investments in Bosnia and Croatia as well.
Sándor Csányi, the CEO of OTP Bank, maintained his second-place position with an estimated wealth of HUF 700 billion (EUR 1.8 billion), while Zsolt Felcsuti, the proprietor of MPF Holding, followed closely behind with HUF 486 billion in wealth.
Among the new names on the list, László Vidman made his debut at the 61st spot, showcasing his wealth of HUF 42 billion (EUR 108 million) in the agricultural sector. Béla Molnár claimed the 62nd spot with his microscope-developing company, and Richárd Szepesi, a prominent figure in the tourism sector, secured the 85th position.
In a recent Facebook post, Péter Magyar raised questions about the success of István Tiborcz, Orbán’s son-in-law, who ranks 19th on the wealthiest list. Magyar highlighted Tiborcz’s accomplishments at a young age, prompting discussions about the role of luck and hard work in achieving financial success.
