Lost in the Ashes: A Story of Memory and Home
A devastating fire broke out in a two-story building on Bindalli Street in Yildirim Haci Sarraf District, causing severe damage to the property. The fire, which fortunately occurred when the building was unoccupied, led to the loss of precious memories for the homeowners, Göksel and Gülşah Kırcan.
The Kırcan couple, who had tragically lost all three of their children to SMA disease, rushed to the scene after receiving news of the fire. Desperately searching through the damaged rooms, they hoped to find a flash memory containing precious photos of their children. However, their search was mostly in vain, as they could only rescue a partially burnt photograph of their children.
Göksel Kırcan, recounting the incident, stated that he was in a coffeehouse at the time of the fire. Upon returning, he witnessed the building on fire and the windows on the verge of exploding. Gülşah Kırcan added that all their belongings, including irreplaceable memories of their deceased children, had been destroyed in the fire.
The devastating loss of precious memories has added to the couple’s already unimaginable grief, having previously lost three children to SMA. The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire while the Kırcan couple is left to grieve over the irreplaceable loss of their home and memories.
