“Lucky survivor wins jackpot after escaping multiple transport accidents”

Frane Selak: The Luckiest Unlucky Man in the World

Life can be both lucky and unlucky for us, and Frane Selak’s story is a testament to this. Selak, born on June 14, 1929, in Croatia, has experienced numerous misfortunes throughout his life. However, despite the odds against him, he has managed to survive not one but seven major accidents.

The turning point in Selak’s life came at the age of 33 when he was involved in a train accident that killed 17 other passengers. A year later, he was on his first and only plane ride when the cabin pressure dropped, and the plane crashed, leaving 19 people dead, except for Selak, who miraculously jumped out of the broken door and landed safely.

In 1966, Selak was involved in another accident when the bus he was on flew off the road and landed in a river. Four passengers drowned, but he once again managed to swim to safety. In 1970, he survived a car explosion, escaping seconds before the fuel tank blew up.

Despite his close brushes with death, Selak’s luck would change when he won a lottery jackpot of 900,000 euros (approximately 19 million 478 thousand TL) on his 73rd birthday. With the money, he bought two houses and a boat, and he finally had something to smile about after a life full of misfortunes.

Selak died in 2016 at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy as the “Luckiest Unlucky Man in the World.”
