Luxury at its Finest: Hungary’s First Four-Star ‘Bitcoin Hotel’ is Here!

The Auróra Hotel in Miskolctapolca, a charming suburb of Miskolc in Northeast Hungary, has made headlines as the first Hungarian Bitcoin hotel. Guests can now settle their bills using the popular digital currency, Bitcoin.
This innovative move by the hotel management aims to attract tech-savvy travelers who prefer to use digital payment methods. The hotel owner, Ferenc Kovács, shared that they have long-term plans for the Bitcoin they receive as payment. The hotel will invest the collected Bitcoin into the renovation, modernization, and other innovations of the hotel over the next 8-10 years.
Located in the picturesque town of Miskolctapolca, the Auróra Hotel offers guests the unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the region while staying in a Bitcoin-friendly establishment. The town is known for its stunning Cave Bath, a 150-meter long thermal bath complex with indoor and outdoor pools, some nestled within a natural cave. Additionally, visitors can explore the lush park surrounding the bath, complete with a boating lake.
By enabling Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network, the hotel ensures safe, immediate, and low-cost transactions for guests. While bills are not issued in Bitcoin, guests receive a traditional Hungarian Forint (HUF) bill, with the final sum converted to Bitcoin if necessary based on the current exchange rate.
The Auróra Hotel aims to be a trailblazer in introducing new technological developments in the hospitality industry. They believe that embracing independent digital payment methods has a positive impact on both society and guests. While the hotel anticipates that around 0.5% of their revenue will come from Bitcoin transactions, they acknowledge that the actual impact may vary.
With a focus on innovation and forward-thinking strategies, the Auróra Hotel sets a new standard for the hospitality industry in Hungary. By embracing Bitcoin as a payment option, they are not only catering to the needs of modern travelers but also spearheading advancements in the sector.
