Renowned actor Mads Mikkelsen to grace Comic Con Astana with his presence
ASTANA — Fans of acclaimed actor Mads Mikkelsen will have the opportunity to meet him at this year’s Comic Con Astana, set to take place on July 27 and 28. Known for his unforgettable roles in blockbuster films such as Doctor Strange and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as well as his iconic portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in the television series Hannibal, Mikkelsen has confirmed his attendance at the festival in the Kazakh capital.
In a special video message released by the organizers of Comic Con Astana, Mikkelsen expressed his excitement about meeting fans and participating in the event. “I’ll be there to chat, sign some autographs, share some stories,” Mikkelsen conveyed in the video.
Mikkelsen is celebrated for his portrayals of complex antagonists in various high-profile projects, including the “Pusher” series, “Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky,” “At Eternity’s Gate,” “Clash of the Titans,” and “Another Round.” His stellar performance as Hannibal Lecter in “Hannibal” earned him a Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television, in addition to approximately 40 awards from various film festivals and ceremonies. Mikkelsen has also made a mark in the world of video games with his role as Clifford Unger in “Death Stranding” and appearances in music videos, such as Rihanna’s.
Comic Con Astana is a festival that celebrates graphic arts, cinema, video games, anime, and other facets of modern popular culture. The event will feature international studios, producers, renowned bloggers, and professional cosplay artists. Attendees can expect a diverse program that includes meetings, autograph sessions, premieres, sneak previews, presentations, a cosplay show, a graphic novels alley, and musical performances. Major studios from around the world will showcase interactive and entertainment booths at the venue.
A highlight of the festival is the international cosplay contest, boasting a total prize pool of 12 million tenge (US$25,000) and drawing participants from 14 countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, UAE, China, Georgia, Montenegro, Great Britain, Armenia, Cyprus, and Thailand.
Exciting attractions at the festival will include a creative photo zone presented by the I’M fast food chain, contests with prizes and gifts, and an agility contest where participants assemble combo sets in 30 seconds. Lionsgate, renowned for its blockbuster films, will showcase a vibrant branded booth and unique promotional materials for the upcoming “Borderlands” movie.
TikTok will also make a second appearance at Comic Con Astana, featuring a booth with engaging activities and surprises for visitors, along with launching two contests focusing on fandom and cosplay content.
