Maduro Claims Venezuela Has World’s Strongest Electoral System

Venezuelan President Maduro Meets with International Observers Ahead of Election

President Maduro of Venezuela met with international observers in the capital city of Caracas in preparation for the presidential elections taking place in the country today.

Maduro emphasized that Venezuela has one of the most robust electoral systems in the world, and stressed that the election results will determine the winner. He called for the people’s choice to be respected.

In response to the denial of permission for five former presidents who wanted to observe the elections, Maduro stated, “The National Electoral Council (CNE) is the sole authority in this matter. They have the authority to invite observers. We want the rule of law to be upheld.”

Despite facing challenges such as unilateral sanctions and violence incited by the far-right, Maduro highlighted Venezuela’s economic progress. He stated, “We have revitalized the economy through our own efforts. We have transitioned to a diversified production system that is not reliant on oil. The country is experiencing growth in production, the local currency is strengthening against the dollar, and hyperinflation has been brought under control.”

According to reports from the Venezuelan press, over 900 international observers have arrived in Venezuela for the elections. Delegations from Turkey, the African Union, the Council of Latin American Election Experts (CEELA), as well as former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero and former Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim are among those present.

Today, the people of Venezuela will head to the polls to elect a new president.
