Maiden’s Tower Reopens on May 11 Evening
Restoration of Tevfikiye Mosque in Istanbul has been completed and the mosque is now open to the public. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu visited the mosque to inspect the restoration work. Tevfikiye Mosque is a historical mosque that was built during the reign of Mahmud II in the years after 1826. Minister Ersoy stated that the mosque underwent a heavy restoration and is one of the most beautiful mosques in the Bosphorus. The restoration of Kuruçeşme Mosque has also been included in the program of the General Directorate of Foundations and is set to be completed soon. Minister Ersoy also announced that the Maiden’s Tower will open on the evening of May 11. These historical mosques are considered cultural assets and a priority to preserve for future generations.
