Maintaining Affordable Ticket Prices at Spas
Several domestic spas in Hungary are choosing to keep their prices the same for 2025, despite facing double-digit increases in operating costs. According to Turizmus.com, these spas are working hard to offer discounts and improve their services to attract more visitors.
One such spa is Bükfürdő Thermal and Spa, which has not raised its prices since April 2023. The facility continues to offer spa services at the same price, with full-price tickets costing HUF 6,900 (EUR 16.87) in high season and HUF 6,300 (EUR 15.40) in low season. Additionally, they have introduced discounts such as a “Pensioners’ Wednesday” where elderly guests can enjoy a lunch menu for only HUF 1,900 (EUR 4.64) on weekdays.
In contrast, spas in Budapest have had to raise their prices due to significant increases in operating costs. Prices at Budapest Gyógyfürdői és Hévízi Zrt. saw a 5-12 percent increase at the beginning of 2024, with historic spas experiencing a higher increase compared to those frequented by domestic visitors. For example, the entrance fee to Széchenyi Spa is currently HUF 11,000 (EUR 26.90) on weekdays.
Similarly, the Sárvár Spa has maintained its prices despite a 12 percent increase in operating costs. They offer daily adult tickets for HUF 6,300 (EUR 15.40) outside of peak season and HUF 7,600 (EUR 18.58) during peak season. The spa has introduced new treatments and plans for further expansions in 2025.
Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló Zrt. has only implemented price increases in line with inflation in 2024 and 2025. The adult ticket price is currently HUF 5,000 (EUR 12.22) in Hajdúszoboszló, with various discount packages available for guests.
At Gyula Castle Baths, a new development project worth over HUF 1 billion has begun, justifying a price increase of 10% in 2024. Adult ticket prices currently stand at HUF 4,700 in Gyula. The spa also offers discounts in partnership with local hotels.
Overall, domestic spas in Hungary are adapting to rising costs by implementing strategic pricing strategies, discounts, and service improvements to attract and retain visitors in 2025.
