
Major Bust: 9.5 Tons of Illegal Tobacco Seized in Ankara

Gendarmerie Seizes Massive Amount of Smuggled Goods in Turkey
A recent operation conducted by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate (KOM) and Bala District Gendarmerie Command in Turkey has resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of illegal products. According to a statement from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the teams worked together to prevent smuggling activities in the region.
The operation was carried out following intelligence studies that indicated S.D. was involved in illegal activities. The Bala Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office organized the operation, which led to the search of the suspect’s premises.
During the search, authorities discovered 9.5 tons of chopped open tobacco with a market value of 26 million 200 thousand pounds, as well as 3 thousand 350 packs of various brands of cigarettes, 955 electronic cigarettes, 8 thousand 660 various accessory materials, 1939 electronic devices, 650 sneakers, and 516 kilograms of food products.
Forensic procedures have been initiated regarding the suspect S.D. as the investigation continues. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat smuggling and organized crime in Turkey.
