Major Operation Targets 68 DAESH Hideouts in Istanbul

An investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has uncovered illegal activities carried out by the magazine ‘Science and Hikmet’, a supporter of the DAESH armed terrorist organization operating in Istanbul. It was revealed that the magazine held illegal meetings and collected money under the name of Fitre and Zakat.
Furthermore, the suspects associated with the magazine were found to be seeking out members of the DAESH terrorist organization in conflict zones and conducting propaganda activities through social media platforms.
Following intense technical and physical surveillance, authorities conducted raids on 68 addresses in Istanbul where the suspects were known to reside. A total of 60 suspects were arrested during the operations, and a significant amount of evidence including an unlicensed pistol, a rifle, digital materials, and organizational documents were seized. One person was released by the prosecutor’s office, while the remaining 59 suspects were brought before the court. After giving statements to the prosecutor’s office, 46 individuals were arrested and taken into custody, while 13 others were released under the condition of judicial control.
This crackdown on the supporters of the DAESH terrorist organization demonstrates the commitment of Turkish authorities to combatting extremism and ensuring the safety and security of the country’s citizens.
