Majority of Americans Doubt Biden’s Commitment to Peace
A recent survey conducted by CBS News revealed a significant disapproval of President Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict among US adults. The survey, which included 2,144 participants, took place from December 6-8 and highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s actions in relation to the conflict.
According to the survey results, 34 percent of respondents believed that the U.S. government’s actions did not contribute to peace in Gaza, while only 20 percent felt that they brought the region closer to a peaceful resolution. Additionally, 46 percent of participants expressed the opinion that the Biden administration’s actions had no effect on the situation.
The disapproval of President Biden’s approach was particularly evident among different age groups. The majority of participants in the 30-44 age range (68 percent) disapproved of his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict, followed by 63 percent in the 45-64 age group, 60 percent in the 65 and over age group, and 50 percent in the 18-29 age range.
One notable trend highlighted by the survey was the growing concern among Democrats regarding the level of support provided to Israel. More participants expressed the opinion that Israel is receiving too much support, indicating a shift in the party’s stance on the issue.
Furthermore, the survey also revealed divisions within the Democratic Party regarding President Biden’s approach towards Israel, with a notable increase in differences of opinion on the matter.
The survey also touched on President Biden’s approach towards pro-Palestinian protests in the USA, with a higher number of respondents favoring condemnation of these protests rather than support for them.
