Majority of Hungarian Citizens Depart Gaza, Leaving Only 7 Behind

Eight Hungarian Citizens Evacuated from Gaza Strip, Seven Still Stranded
In a recent update, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced that out of the fifteen Hungarian citizens trapped in the Gaza Strip, eight have successfully managed to leave the area. Efforts will continue to maintain contact with the remaining seven individuals in order to evacuate them as soon as possible.
The armed conflict in Israel has put many Hungarians in danger, with over 550 people managing to escape the country. Unfortunately, fifteen people with Hungarian citizenship, along with around 7,000 other foreigners, were left stranded in Gaza.
Despite extensive efforts to evacuate them, the Hungarian citizens were unable to leave Gaza for Egypt due to the closure of the Rafah border crossing. Minister Szijjártó expressed his determination to bring them back safely.
The fifteen individuals mainly consist of three families, which include five Palestinian relatives. When a possibility to leave the area arose, all twenty individuals were immediately informed. Two out of the three families accepted the security challenges and successfully traveled a long distance within the Gaza Strip to reach the border crossing, while one family decided against it.
Earlier today, the two families, along with a total of eight Hungarian citizens and two Palestinian family members, crossed the border at Rafah and are now in Egypt. Minister Szijjártó expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian and Israeli foreign ministers for their assistance in the evacuation process.
The Hungarian government remains committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens and will continue its efforts to bring the remaining seven individuals back to Hungary.
