Man Believes in Fake Son, Loses 1.2 Million Lira to Fraud

A woman in Bursa fell victim to a scam after receiving a call from an unknown number claiming to be her son in need of help. Sevim Y, who lives alone in Osmangazi district, was told by the caller that her son Suat was in trouble and needed money urgently. Believing the scammer, she handed over valuable items and cash amounting to 1.2 million liras.
Only realizing she had been deceived after contacting her real son, Sevim Y reported the incident to the police. With the help of security camera footage, the authorities were able to identify and apprehend the suspects Uğur E. and Hasan P. in Istanbul just 2 days later.
Upon searching their homes and vehicles, the police recovered some of the stolen items, including bracelets, gold coins, and cash. Both suspects have been detained and brought back to Bursa for further questioning.
