Hüseyin A., who worked as a laborer in a mining company in Soma, called his family and said, “I have a lot of debt, I can’t pay it. Please forgive me,” before leaving work abruptly at 18:00. Concerned relatives reported him missing, as he had disappeared without a trace. The search and rescue operation was led by the Manisa Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD), Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), and Search and Rescue Association (AKUT).

Teams examined security cameras at the mine to determine Hüseyin A.’s route and found some of his belongings in the forest. Following their search, they located Hüseyin A. in the countryside near Efkaftepe Neighborhood, 12 kilometers away from the mine. He was taken to Soma State Hospital for a health check.
