Man drowns in Tigris River while cooling off
Tragic Incident of Drowning in Batman
A leisurely picnic with friends by the Tigris River in the Çayüstü village turned into a tragedy for 36-year-old Nihat U. as he went missing after entering the river to cool off. The incident took place at the Kantar Bridge area, leaving his friends and loved ones in shock.
Authorities were immediately notified and a swift response was initiated. The 112 Emergency Health services, AFAD, Batman Municipality Fire Department’s underwater search and rescue team, and the gendarmerie teams all worked tirelessly to locate Nihat U.
After an intense 3-hour search, the lifeless body of Nihat U. was found. His body was taken to the Batman Training and Research Hospital morgue for further examination and autopsy.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and vigilance, especially during hot summer days. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Nihat U. during this difficult time.
