Man Fined 331,000 Lira for Possessing a Sand Mussel
Aquaculture Control Teams Impose Heavy Fine for Illegal Seafood Export
The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has reported that their aquaculture control teams have been working diligently to enforce regulations and prevent illegal activities in the seafood industry. Between the dates of October 23rd and 27th, a total of 183 inspections were conducted.
During one of these inspections, an individual was caught attempting to take a significant amount of live mussels, weighing around 800 kilograms, out of the country. The person was promptly fined a staggering amount of 331,289 Turkish liras. This fine serves as a strong deterrent for future attempts to smuggle seafood abroad.
To ensure the preservation of local marine resources, the live mussels that were seized during the operation were promptly released back into the sea. This proactive step helps to maintain the ecological balance and biodiversity of the marine ecosystems.
