A Fatal Shooting in Atatürk Neighborhood: Man Shot Dead Over Alleged Affair
A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning on Neyzen Teyfik Street, Atatürk Neighborhood, leaving a man dead and a community in shock. The incident involved a confrontation between two individuals, identified as ME and Cem Hortum, which escalated into a fatal shooting.
Reports suggest that ME had allegedly seen Hortum, who was known to work at a fish farm, with his girlfriend a week prior to the incident. ME then contacted Hortum and arranged a meeting on the beach to discuss the situation. However, what started as a conversation soon turned into a heated argument, leading to a physical altercation.
In a moment of rage, ME retrieved a shotgun from a nearby caravan and shot Hortum twice, fatally injuring him in the stomach and heart. Following the shooting, ME promptly called the 112 Emergency Call Center to report the incident.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers found ME standing next to the lifeless body of Hortum. Paramedics confirmed the tragic loss of life, and ME was apprehended with the murder weapon in his possession. It was later revealed that ME had previously served 16 years in prison for another fatal shooting.
The funeral for Cem Hortum took place today at the Özbek Neighborhood Cemetery, following an afternoon prayer at the İskele Mosque. As the community mourns the loss of a young life, authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
