
March 8 Organization Committee Leads Action for Peaceful Resistance Against Exploitation – BRTK

The March 8 Organization Committee recently organized an action with the slogan “stubbornly against exploitation, with hope towards peace”. Activists gathered at Nicosia Beach Park, accompanied by slogans and banners, to make a statement at the Republican Assembly.
On the occasion of International Working Women’s Day on March 8th, the action was supported by various organizations and political parties, including the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman. The Committee’s demands were read out by Ayşe Menekşeli at the Republican Assembly and included calls for better treatment of women in various sectors.
Specific requests included the closure of illegal nightclubs, investigation of suspicious female deaths, implementing parental permission laws, ending gender discrimination, improving maternity leave policies, and ensuring access to essential healthcare services for women. The Committee also called for the inclusion of gender equality departments, establishment of women’s shelter houses, and strengthening of laws to prevent violence against women.
Various organizations, including unions, political parties, and cultural centers, supported the Committee’s actions and demands. The event concluded with activists chanting slogans and the Committee expressing their determination to continue advocating for women’s rights and peace.
