Market Watchers Await Thursday’s Interest Rate Decision

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey is set to make a decision on interest rates at its upcoming Monetary Policy Committee meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 23. The meeting will be chaired by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan.

During the last MPC meeting, the policy rate was reduced to 47.5 percent. Economists are now predicting a further 250 basis point cut, bringing the policy rate down to 45 percent.

According to a survey conducted by AA Finance, 17 economists participated in predicting the outcome of the upcoming meeting. The median of their end-2025 policy rate expectations was 30 percent.

The decision on interest rates will be announced at 14:00 on January 23, following the meeting. The outcome will be closely watched by analysts and investors for its impact on the country’s economy.
